Orthodontics for all ages:

The types of orthodontic treatments must depend on the age of the patient to be effective and optimal. Each patient needs an individual treatment based on a thorough diagnosis.

At Clínica Somosaguas we follow this philosophy:

In children with mixed dentition, that is, there are still milk teeth, we generally apply removable expansion or functional appliances.
In children with definitive dentition, approximately from 11-12 years of age and adults, we use metal or ceramic brackets.

We use low friction brackets for atraumatic and effective treatment. The average duration of a treatment is 12-24 months.

• Removable appliances to widen the arch, correct crossbites, open gaps, etc.
• Functional removable appliances to correct the position of the jaw, biologically direct growth in the healthy direction, etc.





• Metal brackets, perhaps the most widespread treatment, although with an age between 8 and 10 years not always the best solution. Great potential to correct a "disorder" in the dental arch from 11-12 years.
• Ceramic brackets: They are not more effective than metal brackets, but they offer, especially in adults, a better aesthetic.
• In some cases, treatment with invisible splints is also a possibility.
